MyoJaw: the appliance and jaw exercises

MyoJaw is a jaw exerciser. This page introduces the product and the limitations of jaw training, without promising a change in facial appearance.
The MyoJaw product
MyoJaw is an appliance intended to engage the jaw muscles. It is currently unavailable. It is not presented as orthodontic treatment, a way to move teeth or a method for changing facial bones.

Muscles, facial contours and expectations
Exercising a muscle and achieving a cosmetic result are two different questions. Available studies do not support promising that a commercial exerciser will produce a squarer jaw or correct a bite discrepancy. A measured improvement in bite strength does not demonstrate a transformation of the face.
Our guide to jaw exercises explains the studies and what can actually be concluded from them.
Discomfort is not a training goal
If you have pain, locking or joint discomfort, seek professional advice before adding resistance exercises. If an appliance causes pain, stop using it and have the situation assessed.
MyoJaw and mewing are different topics
Mewing refers to a tongue-posture practice; MyoJaw is an exercise device. Neither replaces an assessment when your concern involves the bite, breathing or a functional difficulty.
